Umbellularia californica - California Bay Tree

Evergreen tree, slow growing to 30 - 40 ft. Easy to keep at a smaller size with a little pruning. Aromatic foliage can be used for cooking. Great in containers. Full sun along the coast to part shade inland. Drought tolerant, but often grows in riparian zones and looks best with moderate water. Tolerates clay and serpentine soils. Hardy to 10º F.
