Sphaeralcea ambigua - Desert Mallow, Apricot Mallow

Evergreen perennial to 3 ft. Upright stems with fuzzy grey leaves. Charming apricot-orange flowers in spring, may re-bloom throughout the year. Attracts butterflies. Host plant for the West Coast Lady, Painted Lady, and several types of Skippers. Hose down occasionally in summer to mimic thunderstorms. Full sun, low water. Tolerates alkaline soils and clay, prefers fast-draining soils. Hardy to 15º F.
