Rhamnus californica (syn. Frangula californica) - Coffeeberry

Evergreen shrub to 15 ft tall by 10 ft wide, or smaller. Dense green leaves, with cute red to black berries in summer and fall that attract song birds. Makes a nice hedge or visual screen. Host plant for the Pale Swallowtail butterfly. Full sun to part shade. Low water, garden tolerant. Tolerates clay soils. Hardy to 0º F.
