Prunus ilicifolia ssp. lyonii - Catalina Cherry

Evergreen shrub or small tree to 25 ft tall. Upright form. Glossy green leaves with clusters of creamy white flowers in spring, followed by red to black cherries in summer and fall. Cherries are edible, but are mostly seed. Fast growing once established. Responds well to aesthetic pruning. Good visual screen. Great for a bird garden. Full sun to part shade. Low water, ok with some garden water. Tolerates clay soils. Hardy to 20º F.
