Evergreen succulent shrub to 3 ft tall by 6 ft wide. Formidable spines, makes a great barrier. Pretty yellow flowers in summer. Edible fruits, if you can get past the spines to harvest them – otherwise, leave them for the birds to enjoy. Full sun along the coast to part sun inland. Low water. Fast-draining soils. Hardy to 25º F
