Lavatera 'Purisima' (syn. Malva 'Purisima') - Tree Mallow

Evergreen shrub to around 10 ft tall and wide. Fast growing, with pretty magenta flowers in spring and summer. Looks like hibiscus. Excellent for a butterfly garden, also attracts bees and hummingbirds. Hybrid of L. venosa & L. assurgentiflora. Full sun along the coast to part shade inland. Low to moderate water. Tolerates many soil types, including clay soils but does prefer faster draining sites. Protect from frost.
