Lavatera ‘Black Heart’ - Black Heart Tree Mallow

Evergreen shrub to 4 - 6 ft. Fast growing, with deep magenta flowers in spring and summer. Lovely as a hedge, great for a butterfly garden. Also attracts bees and hummingbirds. Garden hybrid with native parentage. Full sun along the coast to part shade inland. Low to moderate water. Tolerates many soil types, including sandy, clay, and alkaline soils. Protect from frost.
