Keckiella cordifolia - Heartleaf Penstemon

Semi-evergreen perennial to 3 - 5 ft. Somewhere between a shrub and a vine, looks great leaning on a neighboring shrub or spilling down a hillside. Bright red-orange flowers in spring and summer attract hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies. Full sun along the coast to part shade inland. Summer/drought deciduous, looks best with some supplemental water. Tolerates a wide variety of soils. Hardy to 0º F.
