Iris douglasiana - Douglas Iris

Evergreen perennial to 14'' tall by 2 - 3 ft wide. Light purple to deep violet blue flowers with yellow accents in spring. Rhizomes form a dense, weed-smothering mat. Full sun along the coast to bright shade inland. Divide and transplant in winter. Moderate water. Prefers heavier soils rich in organic matter. Hardy to 20º F.
