Holodiscus discolor - Creambush

Deciduous shrub to 5+ ft. Produces sprays of pleasantly scented cream colored flowers in spring. Larval host plant for many native butterflies, including the Pale Swallowtail, Lorquin’s Admiral, and the Brown Elfin. Best in part shade to shade. Low to moderate water, appreciates some supplemental water here in SoCal. Does well in amended soils, also tolerates clay and serpentine soils. Hardy to -15º F.
