Evergreen subshrub to 2 ft. Mounding clumps of red-tinted green leaves. Small pompoms of white to pale pink flowers year-round. Important habitat plant for native butterflies and birds. PLANT THIS PLANT if you live along the coast between the Palos Verdes Peninsula and Ballona Wetlands - this is the one and only host plant for the endangered El Segundo Blue butterfly. Full sun along the coast to part shade inland. Low water. Tolerates clay and alkaline soils. Hardy to 10º F.
