The most common buckwheat growing in LA County. Evergreen shrub to 3-5 ft. Bears pompom-like clusters of tiny white to pale pink flowers in spring and summer. Flowers darken to an attractive cinnamon brown in fall. Atracts butterflies, native bees, and small birds. Excellent choice for a pollinator garden. Full to part sun. Low water. Tolerates sandy and clay soils. Hardy to 15°F.
