Cercocarpus betuloides - Mountain Mahogany

Evergreen shrub to 8 - 20 ft tall by 10 - 12 ft wide. Serrated oval green leaves with soft, woolly undersides. Delicate clusters of white-yellow flowers in winter and spring. Host plant for numerous butterflies and moths. Great as a visual screen and slope stabilizer. Responds well to pruning. Good with oaks. Full sun to part shade. Prefers fast-draining soil, tolerates variety of soils, including serpentine. Hardy to 20º F.
