Berberis nevinii (syn. Mahonia nevinii) - Nevin's Barberry

Evergreen shrub to 6 ft tall by 8 ft wide. Prickly blue-green leaves, with fragrant yellow flowers in spring followed by exquisite orange-red berries. Endemic to SoCal and endangered in the wild. Great habitat plant for Bluebirds, hummingbirds, native bees and butterflies. Full sun to part shade. Low to moderate water. Prefers fast draining soils. Hardy to 0º F.
