Baccharis pilularis ssp. consanguinea - Coyote Brush

Evergreen shrub to 6 ft. Small, light green leaves. Rare in the nursery trade. Flowers in fall and winter are followed by fluffy white seed heads on the female plants. Provides food and shelter for many insects and small birds. Fast growing, excellent choice for slope stabilization. Nice naturalistic hedge. Full sun, low water. Looks best with occasional supplemental water in summer. Tolerates sand, clay, and alkaline soils; prefers fast drainage. Hardy to 15º F.
