Artemisia californica - California Sagebrush, Cowboy's Cologne

Evergreen shrub to 3 - 5 ft. Aromatic, finely divided silver-green leaves. Provides habitat for myriad wildlife, including quail and the threatened California gnatcatcher. Great shelter plant for young oak trees. Full sun to part shade. Low water. Summer dormant. Usually found in sandy soils; also tolerates summer-dry clay soils and alkaline soils. Hardy to 25º F.
