Evergreen or sometimes winter deciduous perennial to 2 - 3 ft tall by 1 ft wide. Beautiful and delicate, with spurred red and yellow flowers in spring. Attracts hummingbirds. Usually found on north facing slopes near creeks and springs. Part sun to shade. Requires regular water, tolerates standing water. Tolerates many soil types, including clay and serpentine soils, as long as it is wet. Hardy to 0º F.
